Who we are

What data we collect and why

We collect limited data to understand how visitors use our site and to improve their experience. Specifically:

  • Analytics data — We use Google Analytics 4 (via Google Tag Manager) to collect anonymized information about site visits, including pages viewed, time on site, and general geographic region. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
  • Contact form submissions — If you submit a contact or intake form, we collect the information you provide (such as your name, email address, and message) for the purpose of responding to your inquiry.
  • CRM and marketing data — We use HubSpot to manage contact relationships and track engagement with known contacts. If you have previously interacted with Canoan Strategy, HubSpot may recognize your browser and associate subsequent visits with your contact record.
  • Visitor identification — We use Apollo.io, a B2B lead intelligence platform. Apollo's tracking script may match your IP address and browser data against Apollo's database to identify the company associated with your visit. This allows us to understand which organizations are visiting the site, even if no form is submitted.

We do not collect sensitive personal information, and we do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

Cookies

This site uses cookies — small text files stored in your browser — primarily for analytics. Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish unique visitors and track sessions. These cookies do not contain personally identifiable information.

HubSpot sets a persistent cookie (hubspotutk) to track visitors across sessions and associate browsing activity with known contact records in our CRM. Apollo.io may also set cookies or use local storage to support visitor identification.

We also store a preference in your browser's local storage to remember that you have acknowledged our cookie notice.

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. You can also opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

California residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion of your personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information.

We do not sell personal information. Analytics data collected through Google Analytics is used solely to understand site usage and is not sold to or shared with advertisers.

Data retention

Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' default retention settings (14 months). Contact form submissions are retained only as long as needed to respond to your inquiry.
